Beat Buddy

Beat Buddy

Photo Above, Left: OGSR’s Randy Winters (R) talks with Beat Buddy’s David Packouz (L). “Our band (’50 Shades of 60′) has used the Beat Buddy for 3 years in various ways. It’s terrific,” said Winters.

It’s a drum machine in a “stomp-box.” It comes with a power supply and a patch cord to plug in the optional programmable foot switch. It also includes an SD card that comes loaded with 10 unique drum sets, with 220 styles in 10 different genres, including heavy metal, rock, punk, blues, country, techno and latin.

It only takes a quick glance at the pedal to understand it. The box has three knobs to create your sounds. Select the drum set you want, set the tempo and volume, and you’re ready to go. The easy to understand instructions explain what happens when you press the pedal.

  • Press the pedal once to start the beat with an intro fill and the beat starts.
  • Press the pedal once during the song to add a fill.
  • Press the pedal and hold it for a second to transition to a fuller sound.
  • Press the pedal and hold it again for a second to exit the fuller sound.
  • Double tap the pedal to end the song with an outro fill.

Said Winters, “I was so impressed with the BeatBuddy’s sound quality that I used it on several songs when we recorded our CD. It sounds as good or better than any loop in Logic Pro X. And once you become proficient, you can record a drum track in a take or two instead of spending hours building a track with fills and breaks using loops.

Eric Bass Signature Bass – Prestige Guitars

Eric Bass Signature Bass – Prestige Guitars

Prestige Guitars Ltd. and Eric Bass of Shinedown announced the launch of the Prestige Eric Bass Signature Bass at the 2019 NAMM Show.

The Eric Bass Signature Bass has an offset, double cutaway solid Ash body, with a one piece bolt-on hard maple neck. The body features a flat top and back in order to increase the body mass, resulting in a massive sounding instrument, while catering to Eric’s aesthetic and ergonomic preferences.  The neck features a thinner overall profile for faster action and increased ease of playability. Pickups and hardware include a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound single coil pickup, for aggressive attack with strong bottom end and increased mids to cut through any rock mix;  Hipshot 4 string A-Style Bridge and Hipshot HB-7 Tuning Machines keep this bass in tune rock solid. The bass is available in three satin finish options: Transparent Red, Arctic White and Natural.

“This design is the culmination of nearly 2 years of hard work and collaboration. Designing and redesigning, perfecting a bass that is exactly what Eric wants and needs both onstage and in the studio. Eric has toured for the past year and a half with various prototypes of Prestige basses, and this design is the result of real-world R&D. He played these basses in every type of venue imaginable, before we settled on the final design. It is road tested and road ready, which is a great thing as Shinedown is at the top of their game, in the midst of a major world tour supporting ‘Attention Attention,’ their most recent release which has blown up! This bass will be used on stages the world over and needs to stand up to the demands of their intense touring schedule and Eric’s intense stage performance!” – Adrian O’Brien, VP – Prestige Guitars

Eko Infinito Guitar

Eko Infinito Guitar

Since its inception, Eko Guitars has been closely related with Marches and Recanati. In 2018, on the threshold of the 60th Anniversary, Eko Guitars returns to manufacture in Italy proposing a Made in Italy instrument named “INFINITO”: a tribute to the famous poem by Leopardi, also from Recanati.

The new Eko Infinito features a genuine Italian Alpine Spruce top, National Walnut fingerboard and bridge, Okoumè neck, (Okumè is a wood of the Mahogany family that stands out for its extreme lightness, tonal characteristics and beautiful veins that treated with specific anilines make the necks of the INFINITOs so beautiful).

The innovations for eliminating metal parts from the INFINITO guitar are essential: 3 anti-torsion bars in carbon fiber, calibrated in different thicknesses, ensure the absolute stability of neck and fingerboard; nut and saddle are also in carbon fiber.

Tommy Emmanuel – Maton Guitar

Tommy Emmanuel – Maton Guitar

What impressed us most about the 808 was the separate and adjustable tiny microphone in the middle of the sound hole (see photo above). It can be adjusted to suit your style of play. It picks up all the sounds coming out of the guitar. The finish on these guitars is impeccable and worthy of a world-class instrument.

Designed in conjunction with guitar great Tommy Emmanuel, the TE series guitars are an outstanding tribute to Tommy’s musicianship and Maton’s superior craftsmanship. Built to Tommys specifications, the TE series provides the huge tone and performance you would expect from a guitar bearing Emmanuel’s name.

Tommy looks for a guitar with superb tone, capable of the most delicate expression as well as the most ferocious attack. The neck must stay true regardless of the rigors of international travel.

Maton’s Tommy Emmanuel models feature a Mother of Pearl block inlay on the 12th Fret, engraved with “C.G.P.” The acronym stands for “Certified Guitar Player,” a title bestowed on Tommy by Chet Atkins and held by only 3 other guitarists in the world – John Knowles, Jerry Reed and Steve Wariner.

Galaxy Electric Harp

Galaxy Electric Harp

This guy deserves a lot of credit. He was out there hustling and representing the Galaxy Electric Harp with a spirit that I want to acknowledge.

And the instrument sounds pretty cool too. It’s a 12 string electrified harp that can be tuned in a variety of ways (chromatic, diatonic-modal). It sounds like a guitar with the sustain of a harp.

He told us, “I’m the caboose of this show. I’m the very last booth in this place.”
